No matter where we are, who we are, what we do, or if we die alone, we are all in the palm of something big.
Saori Doi.
ARTDYNE is pleased to announce the solo exhibition ‘MOTHER’S HAND’ by Saori Doi from 23 Nov (Sat) to 15 Dec (Sun) 2024, her first exhibition in almost two years. Saori Doi was born in Aichi Prefecture, grew up in Kanagawa and Tokyo, completed her postgraduate studies in Japanese painting at Tohoku University of Art & Design in 2010, and currently lives in Yamagata. She creates two-dimensional and three-dimensional works, murals and installations, and continues to present her work energetically in Japan and abroad.
Saori Doi captures and expresses the essence of animal and human life from a magical and mythological perspective. She covers wooden panels with plaster and paints them with rock paints, pigments, pigments, petroglyphs, mizuhoshi, etc. During the process, the composition and image often change completely from the original one through numerous revisions. The work is organic and human in its production process, with the work emerging from the artist’s changing thoughts and physical movements. The massive, rough surfaces of his paintings depict animals, humans and plants that exude a strong life force, creating a rich world with a unique, dense and strangely sublime quality.
In this exhibition, more than a dozen new paintings, including a large work measuring 139 x 183 cm, will be presented. Please take this opportunity to discover the fertile world created by Saori Doi.
Saori Doi
Born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Grew up in Kanagawa and Tokyo and currently lives in Yamagata.
